Your gaming PC sounds loud before a game even starts, then slows down or shuts off during a match. Buying a larger cooler immediately may miss the real issue. For Bellflower gamers, Hi-Tek Solutions evaluates cooling, airflow and stability at our Downey shop before recommending a cleaning, repair or upgrade.
The workload matters as much as the temperature
A temperature reading means more when we know whether the PC is sitting at the desktop or running a demanding game. CPU and GPU models have different operating limits. Persistent temperatures above 70°C at genuinely low or idle load are a reason for us to investigate cooling and background activity; that number alone does not prove a damaged component.
Check whether the problem starts before gaming
Record the temperature and approximate workload shortly after startup, then note what happens during normal use. Do not keep stress-testing a system that repeatedly shuts down. Screenshots of the readings and the name of the game help us reproduce the symptom. Include whether the PC was recently moved, upgraded or cleaned.
Dust is one possibility, not the whole diagnosis
Restricted filters, clogged heatsinks, poor fan operation or unsuitable airflow can all affect cooling. Thermal paste or cooler mounting may also need attention. With an all-in-one liquid cooler, pump behavior is part of the evaluation. Fans spinning and decorative lighting working do not demonstrate that heat is being removed correctly.
A shutdown can involve more than heat
Power delivery, memory stability, drivers and other faults can also cause crashes or sudden power loss. A diagnostic process separates a thermal problem from a system that fails under load for another reason. We do not assume every gaming shutdown will be cured by a cleaning or recommend a new graphics card before checking the symptom.
What to bring to the shop
Bring the tower and tell us which games or tasks trigger the issue. Include a list of recent hardware changes and any available temperature screenshots. For a custom-built PC, diagnostics are $36.99 because the individual parts and build configuration require testing. Most name-brand prebuilts qualify for free standard diagnostics; we confirm the service category at check-in.
Choose maintenance or an upgrade based on the findings
A cleaning may restore airflow when dust is the problem. Other systems need a fan, cooler, paste service or another repair. We explain the recommended work and estimate before you approve it. Deep cleaning is regularly $59.99; during the October promotion it is $39.99 through October 31, 2026 with code OCTOBER20. The promotion is for the cleaning service, not a guarantee that every overheating fault is included.
Official cooling reference
For Intel-based builds, Intel’s overheating troubleshooting guide discusses cooling installation, fan operation, airflow and dust. Use the documentation for your exact hardware; processor limits vary by model.
